Guernsey-Sunrise
High School

Guernsey-Sunrise Jr. Sr. High School is a small rural school located in southeastern Wyoming right on the Oregon Trail. We have about 140 students in grades 7-12. Because of our size we have a rather traditional curriculum. We do, however, consider ourselves to be a very technical school. Our computer to student ratio is nearly 1-1 and we spend a lot of time working with technological tools in our learning. We are accredited by the State of Wyoming and North Central. During our last accreditation visit we received very high marks for our School Improvement efforts. Over the last 10 years we have developed a strong set of District Exit Standards that drive instruction in our school. As a staff, we have worked very hard and spent many hours in training to develop a strong Assessment Program for these standards. We are working to be more authentic and product driven in our assessment work. All our graduates go through a Senior Exit Interview prior to graduation. During this interview they bring forth their Body of Evidence to prove they have the knowledge and skills necessary for graduation and life beyond. We know it is nearly impossible to know what skills and abilities students will need in their future, but we are doing all we can to adapt to the rapidly changing world around us.

If you have questions about our school or anything in our community, feel free to drop me an email

The dictionary is the only place that success comes before work. Hard work is the price we must pay for success. I think you can accomplish anything if you're willing to pay the price.
